Ben Gladwin’s strike against Sheffield United during the 2014/15 campaign has been put forward by Swindon Town for the Mitre Goal of the Year Award.
The Robins have opted to put forward their former midfielder’s stunning volley against the Blades during last season’s League One Play-Off Semi-Final Second-Leg success.
The 23-year-old – who is currently nursing a knee injury sustained while on loan at Bristol City – latched onto a poor headed clearance before lashing home a superb effort to hand his side an early lead.
Town went on to book their place in the League One Play-Off Final at Wembley after edging the Blades 7-6 on aggregate following a thrilling 5-5 draw at The County Ground.
Each of the 72 Football League clubs were asked to nominate their best goal from 2015, with the top ten set to be revealed on Channel 5’s Football League Tonight show on Saturday evening.
Fans will then be invited to vote for which goal they wish to see on the final five shortlist, and the overall winner will then be crowned at the Football League Awards on Sunday 17th April 2016.
Preston North End striker Joe Garner scooped the gong last year, while former Town forward Simon Cox was awarded the honour while with Nottingham Forest in 2013.
