Swindon Town’s lengthy unbeaten run was brought to an end in emphatic fashion on Good Friday courtesy of a heavy 4-1 defeat to Wigan Athletic.
The promotion hopefuls were in cruise control from the first whistle at The County Ground and wasted little time in opening the scoring as Will Grigg drilled home with just 15 minutes on the clock.
Grigg’s goal was the difference between the two sides heading in at the break, but a flurry of efforts early in the second-half put Town to the sword.
Max Power scored arguably a goal of the month contender just two minutes after the interval, the attacker finding the bottom corner from distance with a venomous pile-driver.
And it only got worse for the hosts moments later as Grigg bagged his second of the evening, before Sam Morsy completed the rout with 52 minutes played.
Swindon did grab a consolation goal late on thanks to Nicky Ajose’s 22nd strike of the season, but a woeful night was capped off in the final minutes after Nathan Thompson was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge.
Photographer Richard Wintle was in attendance at SN1 to snap the best of the action for SteeleDavis Sports.
