Swindon Town defender Jamie Sendles-White got a brief taste of international action during Northern Ireland’s U21s defeat to Scotland on Tuesday afternoon.
The 21-year-old – who joined the Robins on a short-term contract in February – came off the bench with just over 20 minutes left to play at St Mirren Park yesterday.
It was actually Northern Ireland who struck first in the European Under-21 Championship qualifier, Shay McCartan’s free-kick beating Scotland stopper Jack Hamilton.
Jason Cummings then saw his penalty saved by visiting keeper Conor Brennan, but the Scots were soon back on level-terms courtesy of second-half sub Oliver McBurnie’s effort.
Cummings then atoned for his earlier miss by bagging a brace to keep Scotland’s hopes of qualifying alive, while Northern Ireland remain stranded at the bottom of Group 3 with only a mere point from six games to show for their efforts.
Sendles-White – who missed Town’s crushing 6-0 defeat to Scunthorpe United on Monday – will be available for selection for the visit of Fleetwood Town to Wiltshire on Saturday.
