Swindon Wildcats are officially free to enjoy their summer after bringing the curtain down on an eventful season on Easter Sunday.

The Cats bowed out of the Play-Offs at the quarter-final stage last month after slipping to a 3-2 aggregate defeat to the Guildford Flames, despite emerging as 2-1 victors on home ice in the first-leg.

It has been a campaign full of ups and downs for the Wildcats, who finished sixth in the EPL with a record of 30 wins and 19 defeats.

Swindon also experienced plenty of changes off the ice with star forward Aaron Nell taking on the mantle of Head Coach following Stevie Lyle’s decision to step down in order to focus on his Netminding duties.

Carlo Finucci and fan favourite Jonas Hoog were both drafted in midway through the season following the departures of summer signings Sami Ryhanen and Miroslav Zalesak, while Lyle recently committed his future to the club by putting pen to paper on a bumper three-year deal.

Wildcats finished the term with an average age of 24.68, while they were also able to boast the EPL’s top British point scorer in Aaron Nell (80 – 41 goals and 39 assists in 52 games) and the EPL’s top assists scorer in Jonas Hoog (61 in 41 games).
